Volunteer Opportunities

  • Meals-On-Wheels volunteers drive their own vehicles on weekdays around noon delivering meals to grateful older people in the service region, which includes Faulkner, Lonoke, Monroe, Prairie, Pulaski and Saline counties. For a rewarding experience, call 501-688-7411 or e-mail volunteer@care-link.org.
  • Senior Companions must be age 60 or older. They provide older people in the CareLink six-county service area with companionship and help with light housekeeping and other daily needs. To stay active yourself while helping others as a Senior Companion, call 501-688-7477.
  • Volunteer ombudsmen are advocates for residents of nursing homes. They communicate the concerns of residents and their families to regional ombudsmen.
  • Senior Supplement volunteers deliver much-needed groceries on the third Saturday of each month. Use your own vehicle and just a little bit of your weekend to help in a big way. Call 501-688-7444 to become a Senior Supplement volunteer.

Meals-On-Wheels

You can help provide one of the keys to ongoing independence for homebound older residents of central Arkansas. Meals-On-Wheels volunteers deliver hundreds of meals every weekday. For many seniors, the personal contact with our volunteers is just as important as the food.

Volunteer as an individual or with your family. CareLink will also work with your business, church or social group to find the best delivery route to help you make a positive impact in the community.

A short volunteer orientation is provided. You will need to have your own vehicle and free time between 11 a.m. and noon weekdays. Volunteers deliver meals to a specific route of eight to 15 homes.

We need you! Join us in our efforts to provide nutritious food to your neighbors and friends in central Arkansas. You can make a difference, one meal at a time.

Senior Companion

If you're over age 60 and want to continue — or begin — your tradition of volunteerism, consider the Senior Companion Program.

Senior Companions donate about 20 hours a week of companionship and assistance for older people who still live at home. They help with light housekeeping, transportation and other activities of daily living. Volunteers who participate in this program receive 40 hours of free caregiver training and earn a stipend that does not affect their Social Security benefits.

Senior Companions help themselves and other seniors stay independent and active. To volunteer, call the Senior Companion Program administrator at 501-688-7477 or 800-482-6359. Click here to apply online.

You can be a Volunteer Ombudsman if you are at least 18 years old and have no immediate family members employed or currently residing in the nursing home that you will visit.
